A Little More About Me
As a coffee enthusiast, wife and mom with a deep appreciation for nature, animals, kids and the great outdoors, my life revolves around the simple joys found on our small farm. I am married to my best friend and biggest supporter. We share our rural haven in Lamar, South Carolina, having transplanted ourselves from a quaint suburb in Illinois back in 2015. Everyday we embracing the tranquility of farm life, our days are woven with the delightful chaos of our extended family – a harmonious blend of dogs, cats, goats, chickens, horses, donkeys, and two lively talking parrots. In my free time I enjoy nature walks, gardening, swimming and horseback riding, cooking and occasional visits to the city and all the things they have to offer.
The Gift of Giving Back
Since 2021 I have proudly volunteered for the organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep(NILMDTS) in the capacity of local volunteer photographer, Level 3 Digital Retouch Artist and Dispatcher. The organization provides the gift of remembrance portraits to parents who have experienced the loss of a baby that was born sleeping or never was able to leave the hospital absolutely free.
It has been outlet to use the photography and retouching skills that God has bestowed on me and compassionately give back. Is it hard emotionally? Yes, Sometimes. However this organization provides compassionate support and clergy work place services to all of their volunteers when it gets heavy. It's truly is one big loving family. It has been an extremely gratifying experience to play an intricate part in providing these gifts to grieving families by providing hope, healing and Remembrance Portraits.
NILMDTS has volunteer photographers all over. If one is not available we strongly urge Hospital Staff or Families to take their own photos even if it is with a cell phone and submit them for Digital Retouching. Our team of Digital Retouch Artists do an amazing job of providing beautiful black and white portraits even if the images that are submitted of the baby include bruising, dark lips etc.
Do you know anyone that could benefit from this organization? I am I am hear to help them connect with NILMDTS.
Do you have an interest in volunteering and have questions to ask first? I would love to share my experience with you and answer any questions you might have.
